Bruno Fernandes couldn’t help but poke form at the prolific Marcus Rashford for missing ‘the easy ones’.
The Manchester United forward has been in stunning form so far this term, scoring 30 goals for club and country since the start of the campaign.
The latest strike on his tally was a stunning effort against Real Betis in the Europa League, a night where a 1-0 victory saw them cruise into the quarter finals of the competition where they’ll face Sevilla.
While scoring an absolute scorcher from 25 yards, Rashford’s goal came just moments after missing an absolute sitter, sending an effort flying over the bar and into the second tier of the stadium.
Rashford took to social media after the game with a simple message that read: “Qualified,” with a rocket emoji to symbolise his stunning effort.
But hidden in the replies was a cheeky response from teammate Fernandes, who wrote: “Okay, you don’t like the easy ones” with a winking face.
Responding to that, Rashford replied: “Next time it goes in my brother.”
But despite his embarrassing miss, the striker attracted praise from manager Erik ten Hag.

Speaking of the striker in his pre-match conference on Friday, Ten Hag said: “He progressed during the season. He was also not in the best shape when he started the season but the way of playing gives him a base and then he brings his skills in and his attitude and mentality, and that is bringing him a lot of progress and that brings the team a lot of joy and gives Marcus a lot of goals and us a lot of wins.”
Ten Hag added: “I knew his skills. You also bring staff around who can make him better, who can make progress and who he gets motivated from.
“I thought we needed one in the staff who is specifically responsible for strikers. Benni [McCarthy] is doing a good job but don’t forget others in the staff because it is about teamwork. I think the staff is in a good balance.
“All have their specific jobs in our staff and I think we co-operate really good together and there is a good vibe and also they challenge each other. Therefore I think it is the total package and it is not about one person.”
