The renewal of Pep Guardiola until 2025 at Manchester City caused a change in the conditions of Erling Haaland‘s commitment with the club, as explained by Oriol Domenech in Catalunya Radio.
Although he signed until 2027, the year supposedly marked in red by everyone was 2024, when the 200 million clause became effective. But, according to Domenech, his commitment is linked to Guardiola‘s future.
It was specified that the exit clause would be extended if the Catalan renewed. Pep has already done so, until June 2025, and therefore the attacker’s clause has also been automatically renewed. Guardiola landed at the Etihad in 2016 and has since turned City into the most powerful club in England.
He has won four of the last five Premier Leagues, an FA Cup, four League Cups and two Community Shields. He was also a finalist in the Champìons League in 2020-21 (losing the final at the Estadio do Dragao to Chelsea) and a semi-finalist last season (they were knocked out by Real Madrid). He was only trophiless in his first season (2016-17).
