While he is playing in Al Nassr, his former side, Real Madrid, is already preparing to win their second consecutive European title without him. The Los Blancos cruised past Premier League side Liverpool with an aggregate score of 6-2.

They have booked their place in the quarterfinals with an emphatic win over the Reds. The draw for the last eight fixtures came, as they’ll face Chelsea, thus avoiding UCL favorites Bayern Munich and Manchester City as their opponents.

Fans slam Real Madrid as they applaud their star man

Real Madrid has a stellar record in Europe, having lifted the prestigious cup 14 times. The majority of the success the Spanish club has endured is with their legendary striker, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese has won five Champions League titles with the club.

In fact, while playing at the Bernabeu, Ronaldo became the top scorer in the history of the Champions League, scoring 140 goals. No one has yet broken the record, thus dubbing him “Mr. Champions League.”

However, now it seems that title has been taken from him, as recently, Real Madrid dubbed Karim Benzema with the same title. This has created a debacle among netizens, who are slamming the La Liga giants.

While many were in against Madrid, few were in support of their star Benzema.

Good news for Cristiano Ronaldo

The CR7 must be remembering his old days in Europe, however, in the midst of the squabble he received good news on his international front. The 38-year-old has received a call-up for Portugal.

The new coach Roberto Martinez has included Ronaldo in Portugal’s Euro 2024 qualifiers squad. When asked about his decision, the gaffer said, “Cristiano Ronaldo is a very committed player. He can bring experience and is a very important figure for the team. I don’t look at age.”

Speculations were surrounding his international career after suffering a devastating exit during the 2022 World Cup. But it seems he’s set to continue his tale with his nation as they eye qualification for the 2024 Euros.

Perhaps this was his last World Cup as by the time 2026 arrives, he will turn 41. However, the latter has astounded his critics in the past and he’ll be looking to do so once again.
