What games will Casemiro miss for Manchester United? Many have asked after the Brazilian received another red card.

The £70m man was initially given a yellow card by Anthony Taylor during the 0-0 draw against Southampton at Old Trafford on Sunday, after sliding into Charly Alcaraz.

However, Taylor then changed the yellow to a red after checking VAR.

Casemiro will actually be banned for four games instead of the usual three-match suspension which follows a red card, so let’s take a look at why that is, and what games the South American will miss.

What games will Casemiro miss for Manchester United?

Well, the 31-year-old is set to miss the following four games due to his red card against Southampton.

  • Manchester United vs Fulham (FA Cup Quarter-Final)
  • Newcastle United vs Manchester United (Premier League)
  • Manchester United vs Brentford (Premier League)
  • Manchester United vs Everton (Premier League)

Casemiro is able to play in Thursday’s Europa League Round of 16 second leg against Real Betis, as red cards picked up in domestic fixtures only result in bans for domestic encounters as well, so he remains available for European clashes.

The Manchester United No.18 is suspended for four games instead of three due to the fact this is his second straight red card of the season.

Casemiro was given a red card for violent conduct in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday 4th February after grabbing Will Hughes by the throat.

Now – after Casemiro was dismissed for serious foul play with his tackle on Alcaraz – Erik ten Hag will be without a vital player as he aims to take Manchester United into the FA Cup Semi-Final.

The Premier League clash against Newcastle – a huge game in the race for a top four position – will also be tricky without the Brazilian maestro.

Hopefully, Fred and Scott McTominay can do the business in Casemiro’s absence.
